nightstand

Still working on my resolution to get the guest bedroom finished this year. I found this awesome nightstand at Nadeau.

The room will need some more brown in it, but I think it works perfectly!

guest bedroom progress

I'm thrilled that we're making progress on the guest bedroom, which is one of my new year's resolutions. I use this room for all my painting projects. Recently we attached these magnetic storage strips and bar for hanging supplies to the wall by my desk.

This is still a work in progress, but here's what's going on at the moment with my workspace:

Still my favorite part of the room: tall set of storage drawers!

The only other piece of furniture in the room is this bookshelf, which still needs some work as well:

The room still needs some work, but it's coming along!

building our new bed

Our main purchase at IKEA was a new bed for our guest bedroom (which also serves as my office). It took about 6 hours to construct this thing, so I'm glad I like the results! :)

Headboard complete!

A bit overwhelming

She wants to be part of it all

Big bed in a tiny room

Can I help?

Finished constructing!

Final product!

Best part

Glad to have some attention again
I love having a real bed in the room instead of just a frame! It's cute and it has great storage in the drawers underneath! When we move one day, hopefully we'll have a bigger room and can use the set of drawers on the other side of the bed too.

atlanta

Casey and I have a New Year's tradition of going to Atlanta. We always save up and plan for our annual IKEA trip, which was pretty successful this year:

We also ate lots of good food, including a place called The Porter and our old favorite, the West Egg.

christmas eve

I've spent every Christmas for the past 26 years in Kentucky. Since Casey and I got married, we've had to adjust our traveling schedule, so for the past couple of years we've missed one of my favorite Christmas Eve traditions: Mom singing "O Holy Night" at the church she and my dad grew up at. This year we made it in time! Kathryn, Dad, and I kind of laugh about this now because Mom has been singing the same arrangement of the song for at least 15 years. I love it though!
